    Mr. & Mrs. Smith

This is a smash up of five movies in one, done badly. The first is a hum drum basic romance-in-a-foreign-city as seen in almost everything. Then it turns into a boring remake of The War of the Roses with guns, only the camera man is having a seizure the whole time so we can’t really enjoy any of the relatively well choreographed  but deeply predictable fight scenes.
As we get to what should be the climax, we pivot to Romeo…

The film is nonsensical and jarring, failing to honor the Shakespearean source material in both style and language. If you’re not familiar with Othello, the film’s initial scenes lack cohesion (why will Desi
admit she’s “together” with O but not what that means? How does O find out Roger was the tattle then beat him?); if you are familiar with Othello, the whole film is simply a choppy mess devoid of the fluidity and class Shakespeare brings to all his…

This film is an absolute powerhouse of insanity, rage and cortisol inducing anxiety. Within the first twenty minutes, my heart was pounding so hard, my neck felt like a pro wrestler on steroids, and that was just the beginning. From then on, it was a terror train of shocking stunts and soul shattering episodes of what it looks like when someone who has nothing left to lose comes up against someone who will die to keep everyone else alive.

    ★★

This film was a messy, disturbing homage to Mad Max, laden with drugs, cannibalism and a plot line too busy having a seizure and celebrating its attempt at being disturbing to bother telling a meaningful story. One star for set design and one star for the talented actors desperately attempting to crawl their way out of this cesspoolian blender of a hogpit dumpster fire.
3/10 (1 star for Jason Momoa and 1 star each for the other two celebrity reveals; why did they even accept these roles?!)
