Compelling story, if a bit straight through. Nothing terribly novel, but well executed. Good pacing, good performances. Plays out like the better version of lifetime movies. Most of the jokes landed, which is very impressive for a foreign language film to still be funny in English. Speaking of, knocking points for the subtitles being a little atrocious. Especially heinous for a film with 5 or 6 spoken languages

Marginally better movie than The Drop, but it doesn’t peak quite as high.
Did you guys know there was a recession in 2008? And that the bankers are the real criminals, not poor sociopathic killers like Brad Pitt with long hair and a shotgun?
But really, did you? Because every 20 minutes this movie feels the need to remind you. It’s a fun idea, using the intersection of white collar crime & the mob to paint a picture of corporate greed. It would just benefit from a bit of subtlety.
