Got to see this in 4k IMAX with Japanese audio.

Imagining a straight forward samurai epic from Miyazaki in the vein of Kurosawa. The moment where Ashitaka catches the arrow then fires it back at the man who shot it might be my favorite from his entire filmography.

    Computers will never replace this.

The most painterly that Mann has been. Feels like an outlier in his filmography both in subject and star. It’s awesome that we got a film where the directs the great Daniel Day-Lewis. He’s as intense and as devoted as ever. Long flowing hair and eyes that shoot daggers coupled with the fact that he really lived so much of this while filming. This really got me thinking about a different avenue he could have taken where he did more…

“I have a love in my life. It makes me stronger than anything you can imagine”.

Serious Sandler is the best Sandler. I remember not loving this one the first time I saw it, but i’m in a completely altered state of my life now and more attentive to strong direction, writing, and cinematography. PTA hasn’t made anything like this, before or since. Some of my favorite moments from his collaboration with DP Elswit stem from watching these tracking shots…

Flying Lotus is clearly a fan of Carpenter…so that makes me a fan of Flying Lotus.
