Power power power. I appreciate this film as it explored desire and power and control in the most vulnerable of ways. Yes, on the surface this is basically a porno, but I believe this explores something that all of us can relate to. Chills. Tears. Laughs. Smiles. Sighs.

Every emotion. So beautiful. Ugh, what a time to be alive.

Also, the timing of this film coming out given the current climate could not have been planned any better. Let’s pray that those who are in the screaming mob realize they are a part of the screaming mob. We need more people in the world willing to stand up against the wrongdoings of those who are unfortunately given power in this world. Being a woman is incredible and did this movie sure make me proud to be a feminist.

I had very low expectations for this film, but they were definitely exceeded. There were times during the film that I felt like it was moving pretty slow. It was a moving artistic decision to initially show the DV scenes as accidents because that is what Lily was feeling in the moment, but once she was able to come to terms with the fact that she was being abused, they showed what actually happened. I wish we would have seen more of Lily and Atlas, because I felt like there were more things in the book between them.

What is memory? That’s the major question. Why do we put so much emphasis on the things we remember. Once happy and wonderful turned tragic and horrid. But that’s the meaning of it all. Is to feel the memories whether happy and wonderful or tragic and horrid. A romance turned south is meant to be felt in its fullest, not tucked away because it is uncomfortable. There is something to be said about people who are brave enough to feel…
