This film shed light on my lack of knowledge on the caste system and how difficult it is for underprivileged classes to jump into modernity. The story condemns and punishes the current financial elite despite their skin tone. Amongst the insightful flash forwards to potential familial execution, an enthralling plot pushes you into a world of true grit. Survival of the fittest is cliche, but if you want to modernize the lower class impoverished citizens of India, you need to leverage your street smarts in order to champion the existing fucked up system.
Please watch this immediately after watching Armageddon so you can appreciate Steve Buscemi’s character reference. Also if you’re new to watching black and white films, a helpful hint is you should just get over yourself and learn to like it.
Where do I begin... Tilda plays a red head drunkard who has orchestrated a ransom for a child from a broken home. It was pretty brutal but I liked the pace of the film and her consistent wrestling match between her inherent maternal love for a child and versus a pretty sweet payout. Although this seemed like a Raising Arizona reboot to me, the refreshing perspective and better acting held as the glue for an inevitable moral resolve.
