As much as it's filled with narrative shorthand, Air manages to tell the story of Nike as much as it does the story of the Air Jordans. In fact, it is the screenplay's affection for Nike and its philosophy about sports that prevents this movie from being a forgettable paint-by-numbers "true story," even if it’s executed in a mostly pedestrian fashion.
