Right out from the start this movie had a fast pace to it. A sort of intensity that grew with the storyline. The fact that it was based on real-life events made it even more dramatic. Tom Hanks delivers an outstanding performance as the captain of the container ship, MV Maersk Alabama. In an amazing turn of events, the film causes you to feel empathy for the pirates who are the cause of the whole situation. By the end I…

As seems to happen with all Steven Spielberg movies, (exception: Jurassic Park) there’s this way about his films that feels fake and imaginary. And for a story like The Post, I don’t think it’s a good idea to make it feel that way. It’s like the intensity was built and then lost right before the climax. That’s unique for a marvel movie because usually you can see everything before it happens. That’s not always bad and that’s not always good, but for this one it worked out well. It just seems to be missing some characters we’ve already seen at this point, that could have helped out. Name mentions aren’t always enough.

    Also where was the winter?

What takes away from this film is the pace of it all. It feels like you’re changing chapters. It made me check, and it’s not based on a book, it’s based on real life events.

Besides that there’s some solid characters here, of course the protagonist, but also the whole town that she works up against herself. The events that slowly unravel throughout show you the deep level of complexity of some these characters.

The ending came unexpectedly, and I…
