Burning 2018
Went into this movie knowing nothing. I left feeling haunted by it and could not forget this movie for a whole year. This movie is strange and I can’t quite describe it’s spell on me. To me it is like a modern retelling of The Great Gatsby set in South Korea. This movie critiques the wealth and social inequalities that Parasite so famously does but in a much less ham fisted way. Can’t wait to watch it again.

A modern American myth told in the form of a compelling western. It is both brutally violent and a surprisingly tender send off to Wolverine and professor X. Throw in some Johnny Cash tunes and you’ve got a movie that transcends your typical comic book movie. The neo border country depicted in El Paso was also very believable and added to the overall immersion of the movie.
