Where do I even begin? This is the best film about two queer women, directed by a gay man (I love Todd Haynes), starring two straight women, and produced by Harvey Weinstein that I have ever seen! I think more actors playing romantic leads need to hate each other off-screen to achieve this kind of chemistry. Black Christmas 1974
I have no notes. It’s perfect. I have seen it 100 times and every time it just gets better. I have never seen anyone answer a phone more bewitchingly than Jess in this film. I wonder if it was a character choice, or if it was Olivia Hussey’s natural instinct. I like to think that it wasn’t a choice and Bob Clark was like, “you know what, yeah!”. How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2000
Like if Wicked took place in Whoville instead of Oz. The Betty Lou/Martha May feud is always what I come for. Cindy Lou could have stricter parental guidance, if you ask me. I have such a strong urge to pathologize her obsession with a 40 year old furry, but who am I to judge. Overall, this movie is good if you like fever dreams. If someone told me that this was directed by M. Night Shyamalan, I’d believe them. Except it’s Ron Howard, which makes me giggle. Anyway, I think the Grinch’s trash mountain seems cooler than Whoville, but that’s just me!

Just Friends 2005
Anna Faris is at the top of her game here. Actually, all of the women carry this film. I think that I would genuinely like it more if Ryan Reynolds was not in it— or maybe if he just screeched less. A lot of screeching and cawing and other bird-like sounds in this movie. It is also so very problematic, like… the messaging is all wrong, which I guess could be considered “of era” for the early 2000’s. Anyway, I…
