A children’s film for pensioners getting out of the house is just not inherently funny. 80 for Brady is a cheesy letdown rather than a touchdown.
How embarrassing for Sally Field, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Lily Tomlinson that it has come to this. Did they need to? Really?

I can’t believe Redford would be proud of this as his swan song. The script for the Old Man & the Gun is simple and formulaic, demanding little more than a sleepwalk from any of its cast of celebrities. Such a disappointing curtain call for a once great actor.
