  i think this was meant to be a complex but ultimately sweet portrait of transnational adoption and the definition of family, but i was mostly struck by how racist the adoptive family was, which also betrays a lot more about transnational adoption than i think the filmmaker intended. this is not to say that all transnational adoption is bad, but the film does an unintentionally good job at demonstrating how the adoption industry in south korea was created and influenced…
