  Perfectly fine. Rachel Zegler is absolutely magnetic, but the songs are super bland. Gal Gadot is serviceable but ends up shining briefly in the big villain song, which ends up being the highlight of the movie. The design and cgi for the dwarves is pretty spectacular, even though they remain somewhat offputting by that very decision. Dopey looks like Alfred E. Neuman.

  SUSPIRIA 2018 is the ideal remake. It doesn't aim to retell or recreate the original, despite the obvious affection it has for it. It doesn't copy or wink at the audience with callbacks and in-jokes, and it aims to provide a completely different experience then what you expect from a remake to Dario Argento's original. The most apt comparison I can think of is if one were to consider Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT a remake of Tim Burton's BATMAN.…

  Criminally underrated and truly original, Joe Versus the Volcano features one of Tom Hanks' most effortlessly charming performances, and I don't think Meg Ryan has ever been better than in the three distinct roles she has here. It's a fanciful film with inventive production design and delightful detours, with striking images that'll stick with you long after it's over.
