  it’s like two movies at once; bo goldman really wanted to write a love letter to women as a sensory experience and it was somehow this gateway to experiencing life in a sensory way as enriching, and then randomly it’s also a love letter to boyhood and how not being a snitch makes you noble (which i don’t necessarily understand because i thought the whole point was caring about your own life but okay). i both hated and loved al pacino and his character. there was warmth. i enjoy the genre of movie where it’s a young man with his old off-putting mentor against the world.
