Ghost in the Shell 1995
Visually it's a masterpiece, the animation is beautiful, and the designs form the machines and the implants are very creative, you can see why it inspired so many movies and future animes. The story confused me a little at the end, there's something I'm clearly not getting, I'm left with a lot of questions, but I did find many of the philosophical musings very interesting.

I don't really know how to describe it, it's so many things at once, about love, war, an idealized past romance, boiling it down to one subject feels wrong.
