INSANELY atmospheric movie. Think Christophe Gans' SILENT HILL without the CGI mumbo jumbo and unnecessary jump scares of its second half having a love child with THE BEYOND sans all the gut-munchy, splitty-splatty stuff. The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, the set and Sound design are immaculate and the fog machine needs to join a union because it works some serious overtime.

What I expected: The quintessential David Lynch film, if there is anything like this after all. Loads of weird imagery and a seemingly unsolvable puzzle.
What I got: A surprisingly tame and straight forward tale of alienation and fatherly care, or the lack thereof. An apocalyptic sound design and weirdly beautiful imaginery of a nightmare in concrete mixed with rather a small dose of nature portrayed in a rather disgusting way.
