Starts off strong but then just gets worse and worse. The shift from horror to absurd just becomes boring. There is a clear attempt to create a statement about society - the "shadows" representing the lower class unable to escape poverty - which works at first, but the statement itself just ends up making it impossible to tell a good horror story.
