Literally was not familiar at all with the plot of Wicked before this, and I fear I stan. I love a good enemy of the state.
I also learned that my mom “LOVES” Mac Miller whilst watching this? Totally unexpected.
I’m a sucker for anything that has atmosphere (which this does), a slow-burn (which this is), and directed by John Carpenter (which this was).
Its age shows, but it retains a lot of charm for it; and damn if this isn’t spooky, atmospheric, and just kinda weird and inexplicable in that classic late 70’s movie way. I get it.
Theme also goes HARD AF. Somehow he nailed “spooky Suburbia” (a literal oxymoron) with just a few notes. Bravo Carpenter.
Literally everyone I have on Letterboxd gave this four stars, and I have to agree!
