Smile 2 is a really good movie, but it's wild to me that it's being so ubiquitously praised when the first one (which I think was the better movie) was somewhat controversial. I remember that movie being praised by a good amount of people, but other people saying it was boring, stereotypical, and overly reliant on jumpscares - those aren't criticisms I agree with, but they were the prevailing opinion. I fail to see how this movie is any better…

Beautiful looking movie with good performances by Phoenix and Gaga. I also enjoyed the guard characters (they were funny). Lots of gorgeous shots in this movie.
