Immaculate 2024

A pretty cool take on religious horror, but not the most original. Interesting concept executed decently. There were some cheap jumpscare moments but I still appreciated the body horror aspects of it. Also the ending is rad, shoutout her giving birth and immediately smashing that thing

Nope 2022

The idea of "what if a UFO was the alien life form" is great, interestingly done here and with some moments of true horror with the people being digested alive. Plus, what a great use of Chekhov's gun.

Dog Day Afternoon 1975
I know the story was changed around for movie drama, but the portrayal of John as a completely disorganized, insane abuser was still fantastic. I love the slowly increasing chaos as everyone gets inhumanly sweaty and just how funny the ridiculousness is. I could have watched Al Pacino and the cops yell random bullshit at each other for at least another hour. It's also crazy how humanizing of queer experiences this is for the 70's.

The Holdovers 2023
Really cute movie, I love the chemistry between Paul Giamatti and the kid, who I swore I've seen before but I haven't and I want to see him in more. Giamatti stole the show with his character never being able to stop being a professor, bringing up Rome in every conversation and constantly making eloquent quips, my favorite of which will finish this:
"Listen, you hormonal vulgarian, that woman deserves your respect, not your erotic speculation."Translated from by
