The Notebook 2004

Was informed of theatrical ending where the couple is found dead the next day lying together in bed? This did not happen in the version I watched. Worried about more things in the future being Mandela Effect-ed like this by the State(?). Not good!
Otherwise, colors and costuming very correct. Shot on film? You bet your fucking ass. Classic insane 1940s courtship behaviors in the beginning. Love to see it.

Orange County 2002

It’s not at all important for me to watch movies through this lens, but it’s impossible to see a 2002 comedy and not point out moments that “they couldn’t do today.” But guess what? This one is fucking clean, baby! Not a hint of racism, imperialism, nationalism, xenophobia, white fragility, weak apology, OR no growth. Just 82 sweet minutes of Colin Hanks’s righteous indignation and Jack Black’s slapstick, including three snippets of Crazy Town’s “Butterfly.” Soundtrack goes. John Lithgow. Catherine O’Hara. Ben Stiller (“Your name is Joe John?”). Let’s all put some respect on this one.

Gets me to care about the arc of every single character in it, even Kyle Howard’s Arlo, a man with terminal surfer face. As kind-hearted and hilarious a time capsule as exists.
