A story of trials and tribulations. I think this is the proper feminist anthem. Women are potraued as strong and independent in a world where they are treated no better than cattle whose only positive trait is the ability to breed. Despite this furiosa takes iniatiatve and attempts to drive a group of women to “the green place,” where she grew up. As the movie progresses they establish their tight-not group of compelling rebels in an attempt to find freedom in a desolate wasteland.

The boy and the heron is a tremendous story. It’s a story of grief and overcoming it. Through the eyes of a young boy mahiko he battles isolation fallowing the death of his mother during World War Two. Through his fantastical travels he realizes he is not alone and not only does he have people rooting for him he has friends and family by his side supporting him. I loved this movie and recommend not only people struggling with loss go to see it but anyone, to learn more about the beauty of life and to appreciate what life brings.

Bizzare. Stellar ensemble as per usual for Anderson although I found the child actors, aside from the journalist/disintegration ray inventor, unlikeable. The dynamic between Johansson and Schwartzman was the most compelling storyline and I quite enjoyed their windowsill back and forths. The switch between the tv show, play background, and play was also quite interesting.
