I've often compared the experience of watching David Lynch's work as akin to being dropped into a mysterious foreign land. You don't understand the language and are at once filled with a sense of childlike wonder and confused frustration, but given time and engagement more and more seems to make sense and before long you see that everything functions with its own kind of internal mad logic. Upon completion of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, I finally feel fluent in the terrifying, hilarious and often quite beautiful world of Twin Peaks.

An Idolatrous homage to creature feature B-movies of yesteryear, with enough self awareness to keep itself afloat. James Gunn manages to hold this ridiculous film together with a tight script, that feels at once fresh and lovingly nostalgic. Though I'd be remiss in not mentioning the films prime attribute, which is of course Nathan Fillion. Its not truly known what characteristics Nathan Fillion possesses that make him so magical, whether it be his infectious charisma, his ability to make any sentence charmingly hilarious, his hair. Whatever it may be, I don't need to know, I'm just glad he's here.

A trancendant cinematic experience. A movie that excites and delights with its stunning visuals and meticulous direction. It conducts its complex narrative with the exuberant momentum of a speeding freight-train. In my opinion this is Park Chan-Wook's masterpiece, a raw and undiluted piece of cinema, an absolute must watch.
