Danny Devito carried this film almost as well as he carries 400 pounds of sex appeal.
In this stark look into the reality of the 2008 housing crisis, down on his luck Ace Hardware employee Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) is forced to move into an Airbnb with his fiancé (Bruce Campbell's hand). Things take a turn for the worst when he stumbles across the storyboard for a lost Courage the Cowardly Dog episode that sends him over the edge, spiraling into a Benadryl fueled psychosis. A minimalistic soundtrack and avant-garde cinematography put a whimsical spin on this otherwise grounded film. My only complaint is that the set director must not have installed the wooden doors correctly, but it isn't very noticeable.
An early entry into the Sad White Man cinematic universe, Fight Club goes above and beyond to expose the struggle of the brave heroes who dared to stand against Chase Bank. In a stunning twist, unseen in todays films, the two male leads are completely devoid of homoerotic undertones.
A stunning Biopic about the director of the hit Taxi Driver - Drive - Joker trilogy, Nightcrawler delivers equal parts tension and relatability as a man who is both out of cash and antipsychotics goes on an epic journey to film an average night in Detroit.
