For me, the Tony Scott visual style is very hit or miss. I think in this film it beautifully encapsulates the interior mind of the protagonist and also the chaos of his situation. As for the story, there are few truly great revenge films that are emotionally rooted in the ground so you believe the protagonist would actually go to such great lengths to punish his enemies. The connection between Creasy and Pita is real and moving, driving the story forward to it's inevitable conclusion. I cried. I always cry when a man finds purpose in an otherwise meaningless existence. That's some real catharsis.

a beautiful film but the form did not overpower the lack of function in the story. a confusing mixture of exposition-heavy father-son dynamics and overly familiar ecological responsibility themes. but it sure looked good
