I Love Cinema 2004
This was a beautifully shot and written slice-of-life. While the runtime could've been trimmed by half, I respect the deliberate theatrical stylization behind it. I'm also impressed by the nuance & poignancy Fawzy still managed to pack given the numerous themes it tried to tackle- religion, culture, freedom, sexual repression, escapism, generational trauma, etc. Each theme was given the space to resonate & meditate on. bravo

Possession 1981
This movie destroyed me on so many levels that I couldn’t help but watch it twice on the same day. So many memorable scenes & unforgettable performances. Anna’s monologues will forever echo in the back of my mind. Possibly my favorite movie of all time.

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives 2010
This film felt like ketamine.
I'm not well versed in Thai folklore & Buddhist philosophy, and I'd lie if I said I understood a thing, but.. this was a meditative experience. RIP, Uncle Boonmee. I watched your slow release for 2 hours onscreen and felt absolutely nothing for you; still, I was spellbound.
