  I feel like I could watch Herzog documentaries all day. They’re so beautiful, and you just feel like you’re in the hands of a master. The movie is a survey about different spiritual beliefs about volcanoes. I love the diversity of cultures on display. It never feels like it’s gawking at different beliefs and like they’re treated similarly to how western cultures are (like the section on Iceland). The film draws parallels in how different cultures react to the threat of volcanic eruption. Not enough Herzog narration tho.

  Still a great movie from a strange set of collaborators who never worked together again. They should have broken up though, they’re so toxic. Everyone is great in this movie, particularly love pick up bro Frodo.

  Good movie. The direction of the actors and some of the scenes are a little contrived at times. Feels like a privileged movie in that it’s perspective is outside the subject it’s talking about. But all the old men actors are so sexy in their button ups.
