    no notes just tears… I am so weak to a good delinquent kid + aging elderly family drama combo 

    was wary at first of the heavy trope usage – a somber piano soundtrack that almost sounded royalty-free, the bum uncle, greedy dad, etc. – but to be honest, it was nice having those as anchors so we could focus on the vibrant & unique dynamic…

    Ghibli film made it on the hot take list hate to see it 😔

    Visually, this blew my mind, to a similar extent as Inu-Oh & Spiderverse did. For a studio with such a consistent style, it made me extremely happy to see them go experimental with a lot of scenes, notably the impressionist/smearing effects on the fire and bandage tape scenes. Judging this solely on art direction and style, it would be a perfect movie. Also, so many characters resembled…
