Asteroid City 2023
Amidst the blockbusters of summer '23, don't sleep on this Wes Anderson gem. I revel in his postmodern colors and quirks and emotional punches, even as the brain can't keep up. Didn't want it to end.
At a broad level, it's about processing grief. Expressed in Different ways- inexplicable even to the one expressing- and at two levels of writer's life put to pen and actor's performance of those expressions of pain. Augie and the actor playing him (both Jason S), like we the viewer, can't explain all that transpires, and is unsettled, but we move on with some sense of loss and hope.
