a lesson in humility and contentment. in a sea of movies about pain, it's nice to see someone still trying to find beauty beyond it.
A pretty fun, not wholly original idea, but one with enough heart and flare to carry it. Also a stellar cast that elevates it from a pretty lackluster film to a solid good time. Came for Thomas Middleditch goofball humor, stayed for a touching story of mother daughter connection and accepting loss.
I was very close to seeing a screening of this at my local theatre, and now sorely regret not going. A visually stimulating, thrilling psychedelic experience. The use of color is beautiful and the repeated imagery of the womans silhouette adds a haunting new layer to this already tense and graphic film. The score is masterfully done, very telling of this films influence from 60's western and exploitation films. Reminded me a lot of El Topo. Great fun watch.
