But I genuinely would welcome a prequel of sorts (Presommar?), because I have absolutely no clue what the first act of the movie has to do with any of what follows. What was up with Pugh’s sister and those emails?? I wanna see that movie, too, please.

Loved it. Days of Heaven for the Amazon era and an olive branch to a generation reduced to an “OK Boomer” catchphrase. No forced romances, no forced conflicts, no easily labeled character intentions, no resorting to violence as a means to add plot. A fully internalized film with a wealth of external beauty. That’s so, so tricky to pull off; it looks effortless here.
In other words, if we lose Chloe Zhao to big budget filmmaking then just burn the whole thing down and start from scratch.
