    Is this the definition of average? Azrael is like a middling Walking Dead or Last of Us episode.

    To be fair, the performances were ok, and they utilised the low budget quite well. The effects were pretty decent too.

    But the problem is that it does little more than what an average episode of a TV show can do.

    The concept of setting a story after the rapture is enticing. There's a lot you could do with religious imagery and sub-text. However, everything here is shallow and really could be omitted almost entirely.

    I’m so used to seeing films with a serious subject matter, with heaps of sex and violence that it feels odd to experience such an innocent, cutesy-po coming of age tale. 

    Despite the good performances and the heart-warming message, I was let down by so many generic aspects of the plot. Predictable with a capital P, I could only shake my head as the director squandered what could have been a unique film for me to appreciate.

    The Dark Knight, Interstellar, The Prestige, Insomnia. Just a few of the films that Christopher Nolan has made that clearly verify him as a major talent.
