The Whale 2022
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The Whale was a movie I walked away from with complicated feelings about. In particular: why? The acting was superb by all, especially Hong, but while I saw this as *cinema* it didn't challenge me in the ways I think the director was hoping it would challenge audiences. Still not really sure why the lead could save money for his daughter, but never take care of himself. If the end message is that depression is all-consuming well, might not have needed a 2 hour film to tell me.
