  incredible film and an example of what public broadcasting could be: objective, good-spirited, unbiased, and journalistic in documenting a subculture that most would write off as delinquent. watching a 15 year old kid describe why he tags trains is about as pure as it gets.

  normally can’t get into any movie where the protagonist is a loser but this one is an exception. the story is whatever, certainly made more compelling by the fact that it’s based on real events, but the real star here is the general portrayal of midwest life. the film is less about the murder case on the cover and more about marge as a vehicle for midwest values. really impressive writing to pull that off.
