RRR 2022
Never have I EVER seen a movie lost the plot like this.
The first 1.5 hours are incredible, some of the best cinema of the decade but things go downhill so much. The narrative starts acting like Bheem was stupid - he wasn't, he did what anybody would've done in his situation. There's such a weird moral scale where we're supposed to forgive everything Ram did because he had a master plan (which doesn't even end up working, mind you).…

Gravity 2013
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I first saw this in IMAX at age 10 and it *heavily* imprinted on me. I still love it now, but some situations feel contrived ...
I also remembered a major detail wrong: I thought the scene where Sandra Bullock lets go of George Clooney was how she 'let go' of his hallucination, not the actual, real person. I kind of think that would've worked better? In my false memory, she has to choose to let go of her memory…

Anyone But You 2023
We need to prevent millennials from writing movies and i’m so serious. THIS is what you all say is ‘bringing back rom-coms’? The characters, especially the extended families, feel like an early 2010s teenager’s interpretation of adult life. The family dynamic is Tumblr fandom levels of misunderstanding of how real human beings interact.
Outside of 2 scenes, the couple is dry too. Zero chemistry from the actors, and the writing doesn’t help either.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 2023
Unfortunately I think my taste and sense of humor has changed too much for this series; creating an entire planet of NPCs just to destroy them seems so bleak, especially when they try to play it as humor. Maybe it’s not the movie’s fault, but I can’t imagine bringing these characters out of the 2010s.
But the Gamora arc is 100x better than what I thought would happen in a Marvel movie these days.
