  Unpopular opinion but Im a fan. It felt like a love letter to the creation of films and the transition from silent films to talkies. I agree that the runtime of over 3 hours was quite long and there were a few scenes that definitely could have been cut.   A movie that perfectly shows and embodies the feeling of falling in love with movies, the power film has on people, and how all consuming the passion is. You can see how much love and appreciation Spielberg put in these 2 hours. 

  The fact that the whole story starts on January 10th makes it even better.
