    Perfection.

Not a single frame of this film is wasted. Shot composition, editing, fluidity of camera movements, mise-en-scène... it pulls you in from the very start and never lets go.

And the character work? Every statement and action carries subtext and nuance, and each distinct character is elevated by the outstanding performances of the entire ensemble.

Yes, you can criticize the lack of diversity, the misplaced faith in the American justice system, and the idealistically hopeful ending. But looking through…

My issues with this piece of work are legion, and it’s simply not worth it to go through them one by one. Everyone who has been subjected to this film—nay, movie—is now dumber for having watched it. May God have mercy on our souls.

What if I said that the climax of Octopussy was nearly identical to, yet more exciting and funnier than the climax of this movie

Completely empty, uninteresting, sauceless performance by Ted Wass. What a snoozefest.

    An evil, evil movie.

What an ugly attempt to glorify a man who is so narcissistic, jealous, petulant, and self-pitying that he resorts to deceiving every important person in his life. Not only that, he shows that he knows exactly how he should behave in order to make everyone happy (himself included), yet he clearly has chosen not to do so for the past decade, opting instead to blame his hardworking wife for all of his problems. Shameful.

But ok sure the restaurant scene was pretty funny

Incredibly powerful. Though it strays from Remarque's novel in some significant ways (i.e. Erzberger storyline, 18-month time jump), this is still a sobering, gut-wrenching, brutally compelling achievement.
