i need everyone to be for real. i don't doubt the story had potential. the acting was fantastic sure, the costume design too, but im not going to pretend that this included or represented any legitimate feminist ideology and instead i feel as though it kept recycling tired white feminist tropes we have seen over and over. if this was released a decade ago i could understand the praise? i loved the fantasy themes and the references to frankenstein, religion and science but it lacked any real sentiment relevant to the world today. it's giving barbie (2023).
