I can’t say the movie lived up to the hype of its own marketing. Everything felt really one dimensional to me; even when things were more intense. I don’t like when things are neatly drawn out for the viewer, but I think it could have used some better breadcrumbs while it was still using some inspiration and tropes from a lot of movies that came before it. Satanic pacts of parents or caregivers, woman law enforcement at the mercy of systems, strained parental relationships.
Like a three foot long saltine with peanut butter with occasional changes from smooth to crunchy, with the occasional raisin thrown on top as a nice treat.
Yikes. I feel that this was almost an emotional thriller in that it takes you really deep into a painful series of verbal destruction. And I feel it worked for me because there’s times I feel I have this sort of relationship with my mom and having hard convos about previous wrongs (hyperbolic in my instance) and this movie really shows the mixture of contradictory feelings we may have for a parent, even if this is at 1000x more extreme.…

Let’s do the first movie but be more bonkers. I can handle it. They went all in on the cg and I felt they could only do filters and very geometric things so they were like yeah let’s go hypercube. The dialogue and acting is pretty bonkers at times but still fun.
Also never expected a super fast forward sex to death scene. But why not it’s the early 00s.
Could still go for some more in the series.
