  Beautiful cinematography, as to be expected from Eggers however that is the only real highlight. It's at least half an hour too long, a mixed bag of performances - hats off to the brilliant pairing of Defoe and Ineson whereas Lily-Rose Depp is as wooden as Count Orlok's coffin.

  Regarding the design of Orlok, I assume Eggers wanted to hark to an historical likening of Vlad the Impaler, it's the only rationale I can find for that ridiculous moustache. At no point did the Count really feel like a monster either, far too human.
