They Live 1988
fantastic movie, very fun and funny. i don't know if coming off misogynistic was the intent but definitely had those moments. at multiple points it felt like the movie was asking "are women the bourgeoisie?"
it did try to have "universal appeal" by avoiding politically charged descriptors and having the villains be aliens, which i think is to its detriment. "the rich keeping us divided" was very clear but i think the movie could've done more on the "sellout" theme…Translated from by -
