  The Departed 2006

  “The Departed" runs about forty minutes longer than "Infernal Affairs." It adds a romantic interest (that doesn't really go anywhere), and Scorsese's film aims for "justice" in the end—perhaps it's an American need to tie up loose ends. Maybe it results from a larger budget and the need to cater to a broader audience. However, dramatically, the Hong Kong version ends up being more engaging.
