The Host 2006
absolute cinema. come for the scary monsters , stay for the interesting and wholesome and super real family dynamics. what a movie, great acting, great set design, great writing , my god the sequences where characters are sharing a meal together just perfect . Monster was scary, the depictions of civil unrest really created a a rich slice of this town and its people.

The Beach House 2019
now THIS is my kinda spookster! My favorite kind of horror film is less plot driven and more a collection of texture and tone. A terror that is as vast as the imagination. Nothing is explained but the vibes are just right. There's these long transition parts with drone and odd sound effects that perfectly captures the mood and otherworldliness you feel when watching. Oh yeah, you'll be think'n about this one long after the credits roll.
