  Going against the grain, I actually preferred this to the original. It not only updates but adds to the original. Some of the VFX leave a bit to be desired and one prominent actor in particular is downright awful, but I would have liked to have seen the further sequel that this sets up.

  Finally caught up with this 90s classic that I had somehow missed. It holds up quite well, but the sudden turn at the end comes out of nowhere.

  When it started I was a bit frustrated and disappointed by the retconning going on to squeeze old characters/actors back into the storyline, as well the return of “The Sky People” as the main threat. I was hoping to see a film with Jake coming to grips with his new home, body and family. That all vanished pretty quickly though, as the tension and jaw-dropping beauty had me captivated all over again. Not so much a movie as an experience. I would have happily sat there for another 3.25 hours and watched it all over again straight away.
