The premise of the film sounded good, a Ukrainian woman making a better life for herself and her son while being outlaws in Middle America. Sadly the writing feels awkward and a little childish, it feels inexperienced; just like the child actor that plays Bobby, the line delivery’s are too ’acted’ very unnatural. His character is just very unlikable overall, which makes it hard to care about the mother-son relationship, what should be the heart of the movie.
