The editing is really what makes this. (And the ape thing.) One of the best montages I've ever seen. And then a couple more great ones on top of that, too. Incredible handling of flashbacks/flashforwards throughout. The visuals are stunning. Creative and fresh feeling even though at a glance the base material is a bit stale. Every time I found myself starting to think "cheesy" it pulled me right back from the ledge.
