Party 1984
was a little hard to follow at first because of the refined hindi and slow pace (which i now realize was deliberate) but overall a great film that makes you appreciate when (indian) cinema used to be brave and real, and wasn't afraid to offer nuanced commentary on complex political and social realities of the time. also timeless in its portrayal of the never-ending discourse on art and politics, the indian state's oppressive apparatus against dissent and the perpetually sermonizing upper-class leftist aunties and uncles
p.s. need more parallel cinema recommendations please
