Mediocrity, reified
Poignant and arresting - class anxiety manifesting as neurosis, an American idyll vitiating in the austere beauty of the Pacific rainforest.
Fascinating watching a film concerned with romanticizing the stifling, if at times endearing, mundanity of Middle America with a good hundred or so Australians. Couldn’t help but think about how my own complacency was responsible for my poor marks in my Geography course throughout the duration of this film… Props to Guadagnino for toying with moral ambiguity but it really doesn’t transcend itself in the way that I think many expected. Entertainment!
