The Room 2003
Definitely lives up to its reputation. I gave up attempting to analyse this half an hour in because not of it makes any fucking sense, it just transcends film criticism. I’m so glad I did because you cannot take any part of this film seriously, it’s just brilliantly awful on every level and watching this in a packed-out cinema was such a blast, we all couldn’t stop laughing. Also got to meet Greg Sestero at the screening, who was such a sound guy.
Don’t try and outsmart The Room’s stupidity. Best tribute to spoons since Soundgarden released Spoonman.

Dad hated this.
Some interesting storytelling, especially with how the film chooses to focus just on the journalists and their journey from A-B, rather than anything to do with the titular war.
Well shot and directed in places and I admired the way Garland chose to tell a small-scale story that looked at American citizens’ fractured relationships with each other, as well as the trials and horrors of a group of people trying to find a purpose in their job.…

My introduction to PTA’s feature filmography was one that had yet to occur for a while, until last night. Considering all the reviews and things I’ve read about this film, perhaps this was the best choice to go for in terms of getting to grips with PTA’s direction and writing. Especially considering that many regard this as his masterpiece.
As you can see from my rating, I thouroughly enjoyed this. And everything is near perfection.…
