  Rewatched it after Contact (1997) and, honestly, it's inferior on every level. Where Contact affirmed that we all need each other, that progress is something that works only through a collective effort, Interstellar celebrates individual exceptionalism, it celebrates loneliness, it even heroizes it. It heroizes going on a lonesome suicide mission with tiny, tiny odds (because, if American cinema is to be believed, this is the biggest and most worthwhile struggle of them all) And it is a grim vision…

  Seeing the recent discourse around Starship Troopers, I decided to rewatch it in order to find out whether it's *really* that difficult to detect that it's a satirical portrayal of fascist propaganda. I'm pretty sure this whole discourse is itself just a satire of our current media literacy level.
