An average film that goes on to become another male centric saviour complex movie which ends in a very generic old, yet over the top old fashion bollywood style, in order to cater to the so called "mass" or let's say the "family" audience.

While the performances are fairly good, it's the story that faulters especially in the later half of the film, by keeping it very generic, instead of trying something new and out of the box for the hindi film industry.

A one time watch probably, that might be liked by the movie going family audience....

Truly happy to see hindi cinema coming up with such simple yet surreal movies which have been lacking in the recent few years.

The movie has got all the elements that makes it a very beautiful watch. The subtlety in which the important themes are explored makes it quite an entertaining experience.

    ★★★

A very bold attempt by hindi cinema to capture the essence of North East Indian turmoil, which often fails to be in the mainstream. Anek, unlike any other "nationalist jingoism" driven movies, simply raises various questions concerning 'patriotism' and 'nationalism'. While the director was able to portray the internal journey of the Protagonist where we see him initially carrying the ideas of Nationalism, and later on questioning the very same idea; the movie fails to emotionally resonate with other characters often.
Well, this movie deserved more praise than it received for sure.

    ★★★

While Dhanush delivers stand out performance that is a huge plus for the movie, the action sequences gets a bit exhaustive largely due to its abrupt cuts, . The screenplay that may seem to wander without any aim end up being incapable of connecting its characters with the audience emotionally. The content and the themes explored in the movie gets elevated due to the excellent technical prowess that includes the works of the departments of cinematography and the background scoring. The lack of emotional linkages felt by the viewers may end up reducing this movie experience as somewhat generic with respect to its narrative presentation.
